NYC Day 1

I had never been to New York City before. It’s been number 1 on my to-do list since moving to America 3 years ago, and this past week was the first time I finally got around to getting there. I’ve been kicking myself ever since that I didn’t make the effort to go earlier…now I only have 1 1/2 years left to venture back to this beautiful city.

It was a good trip. It was a great trip. I had the best time, I’m officially in love with the city and my first day was a huge success. And I know this in part, because I don’t actually have that many (awesome) pictures.

Now this may sound counter-intuitive, particularly coming from a seemingly new blogger, but bear with me.

I love taking photos; I love being able to capture certain moments or beautiful places, buildings and things I see and remember them forever. However, I also love enjoying my surroundings and taking everything in through my eyes, and not through the lens on my phone.

I did come away with some photos from the day, but they were more spur of the moment “wow this is cool, I want a picture to remember this” pictures, and not “oh hold on, this is perfect for my blog, let me spend 5 minutes getting the angle, lighting and focus just right”. I think both photo-taking approaches are
completely valid, and I love to indulge in both. But this time, on my first day in NYC, I was too overwhelmed and too excited to stop to think about my blog.

So I apologize for neglecting you. I was out enjoying the greatest city in the world.

However, I would still like to share my experience with you. SoΒ here’s a collection of my favourite pictures and moments from my first day in the Big Apple. Hopefully they reflect exactly how majestic this city is, and how much I love it.

Of course, we began in Times Square
And headed to The MET to live out my Upper East Side dreams

We didn’t have the same poise as Blair did on the MET steps

Back to Times Square

I’d love to hear about your favourite places or adventures in New York. IΒ definitely plan on going back in the not-to-distant future and would love some recommendations!

  1. No place like NYC!!! Seems like you enjoyed yourself!! Some of my favorite places to eat: Beauty & Essex (don’t let the outside pawn shop look fool you), Blue Fin (inside the W hotel), and I love the breakfast from Eventi hotel)..just to name a few! LOL. I’d also suggest seeing a Broadway musical if you haven’t already. Looking forward to future posts about your trips to NYC.

    1. Definitely I’m already trying to scheme how I can get back there asap πŸ™‚ Ooooh, thank you, I shall definitely try to check those out in the future. I know, I really wanted to go see Les Mis or The Lion King but we weren’t organized enough to get good tickets in advance, but it’s definitely on my to-do list πŸ™‚
